Wayfield vs. online course platforms
Teachable, Podia, and Kajabi are great at one thing Wayfield doesn't do — and vice versa. The short version: course platforms sell a recorded product people watch anytime; Wayfield runs a live workshop that happens on a date, in a place, with a roster.
Side by side
| Course platforms | Wayfield | |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Selling self-paced, recorded digital courses, downloads, and coaching | Running live, scheduled workshops — in person, outdoor, hybrid, or online |
| The product | An async course a buyer watches on their own time | A session on a date — with a seat, a place, and a roster of people who show up |
| What it costs | E.g. Teachable: $39 / $89 / $189 per month by plan (the $39 Starter adds a 7.5% transaction fee), plus 2.9% + 30¢ payment processing; Podia and Kajabi are priced in the same range | A subscription plus a take-rate that drops as you grow — as low as 2% on higher plans |
| Scheduling & capacity | Not the point — no dates, seats, or waitlists | Core — sessions, time zones, capacity, and waitlists |
| Day-of, in person | N/A — there is no day-of | Native app: check-in, Apple Watch, widgets, offline rosters |
| Reminders | Course-drip and marketing emails | Automatic per-session reminders (email + SMS) |
Where a course platform is a good fit
- Your offering is really a self-paced digital product — record it once, sell it on repeat, 24/7.
- There's no date, seat, or attendance to manage — buyers consume it whenever.
- Drip content, memberships, and a course community matter more to you than a roster.
Where Wayfield is different
- A workshop is a live event. It happens on a date, has a capacity, and fills a room. Wayfield handles scheduling, seats, time zones, and waitlists — a course platform isn't built for any of that.
- The day-of is the point. Check-in, a live roster, Apple Watch, and offline support exist because people physically show up — there's nothing to check into on a recorded course.
- Live online still works. Teaching a scheduled session over video? Wayfield runs online and hybrid workshops too — still with a date, a roster, and reminders.
If it happens live, it's a workshop
Selling a recorded course? Use a course platform. Gathering people for a real session — in a room or on a call — Wayfield is built for that.

Pricing shown is Teachable's own published pricing as a representative example (teachable.com/pricing): Starter $39/mo (with a 7.5% transaction fee), Builder $89/mo and Growth $189/mo (0% transaction fee with Teachable Payments), plus 2.9% + 30¢ payment processing; annual billing is cheaper. Podia and Kajabi are priced in a similar range — check their own pages for current terms. These are online-course platforms, not live-workshop software; the comparison is about fit, not a knock on any of them. Wayfield's take-rate is tiered by plan.
