What a waitlist is
When a workshop fills up, the organizer can turn on a waitlist so you don’t just hit a dead end. You add your name, Wayfield remembers the order people joined, and if a spot frees up — someone cancels, or a reserved place expires — the person who’s been waiting longest gets first claim. It’s first-come, first-served, fairly.
Joining the waitlist
On a full workshop, the app shows a Join Waitlist button (with a count of how many people are already waiting). Tap it, confirm, and you’re in line. The app shows your spot — “you’re #4 on the waitlist” — so you always know roughly where you stand.
Joining a waitlist is free and doesn’t charge you anything. You’re reserving a place in line, not a seat — you only pay if and when a spot actually opens for you.
When a spot opens
The moment a place frees up and it’s your turn, Wayfield lets you know by email and a push notification. That message is your invitation to claim the spot — and it comes with a deadline, because the offer then passes to the next person if you don’t take it.
Claiming your spot
Claiming is just finishing your registration:
- Paid workshops — open the link from your invitation and pay the registration fee to lock in your place. It’s the full price, no deposit — paying is what confirms the spot. See Enroll & pay for how checkout works.
- Free workshops — there’s nothing to pay, so you’re promoted straight to registered the moment a spot opens. No window to beat.
Once you’ve claimed it, the workshop moves into your My Workshops like any other registration — same confirmation, same reminders.
If you miss the window
Life happens. If the deadline passes before you claim, the spot automatically rolls to the next person in line. You’re not removed from the waitlist — you stay on it and will be notified again if another spot opens later. You just miss that particular opening.
Leaving the waitlist
Changed your mind? You can leave a waitlist any time from the workshop in the app. Leaving doesn’t cost anything and doesn’t affect anyone else’s place in line.
Good to know
- You’ll get a reminder. If your claim window is ticking down, Wayfield nudges you partway through so a busy day doesn’t cost you the spot.
- Some workshops waitlist individual sessions. For session-based workshops, a specific session or add-on can have its own shorter waitlist with its own claim window — the app walks you through it the same way.
- Not every full workshop has a waitlist. It’s a feature the organizer turns on. If you don’t see a Join Waitlist option on a full workshop, the organizer hasn’t enabled one.
- Refunds follow the workshop’s policy. If you claim a spot and later need to cancel, the workshop’s normal refund policy applies — there’s nothing waitlist-specific about it.
